The Benefits of Daily Stretching
1. YOUR ENERGY LEVELS WON’T DROP IN THE AFTERNOON
If you feel like you don’t have the energy to get through the rest of the day around 2 or 3 p.m., turn to stretching for help. Don’t skimp on this—you’ll see, it takes about as long as it takes for your favorite café to prepare your soy milk, sugar-free syrup latte. And you never mind spending that much time on that, right? Just a few minutes of stretching gets your blood flowing throughout your entire body, including your brain.

2. YOU CAN SAY GOODBYE TO TRIPPING
Stretching promotes proper muscle coordination, so if you do it regularly, you’re guaranteed not to lose your balance—literally. In one study, participants’ sense of balance was monitored using a stabilometer, and it was found that those who stretched for 30 minutes beforehand lasted much longer than those who skipped this warm-up.
3. MOVE MORE EASILY AND PAIN-FREE
Regular stretching keeps your muscles toned. You’ll feel much lighter as a result, even if you haven’t lost a single pound. It’s important to always learn the basics of stretching from a professional, even if you don’t attend guided classes. Hold each stretch for a while; don’t bounce your muscles.
4. GET MORE OUT OF YOUR WORKOUTS
Unless you’re a yogi, flexibility isn’t really a huge advantage. However, stretching helps you get the most out of your workout, regardless of the type of exercise. With regular stretching, even basic exercises like squats will look better, and you’ll be able to go much deeper.
5. YOU’RE LESS LIKELY TO GET INJURED
You need to warm up before stretching; never try to do stretching exercises with cold muscles. However, stretching can help you avoid sports injuries. It also makes your mind and your muscle movements more aware, and you’ll be much more focused during your workout.
6. IT LOWERS YOUR BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS
It is well known that exercise helps maintain balanced blood sugar levels, but the main reason for this may actually lie in stretching. A study showed that adults who already had type 2 diabetes were able to significantly reduce the effects of a sugary soft drink by stretching for 40 minutes.
7. MANAGE STRESS BETTER
Is your back stiff, are you tapping your foot, or fiddling with your ear? These are all signs of stress. Stretching is good not only for your body but also for your mind. If you practice regularly, you’ll feel much calmer. If you tend to be tense, be careful not to overdo the stretching. Do just enough to feel good, and stretch each part of your body only as far as you can while still relaxing. If it hurts a lot, you’re doing something wrong
